Must not be confused with the real-life Game Master, who runs the game.
For the fought encounters, refer to the following links: Hebizuka Jinkou (encounter) - Game Masters (encounter)
A Game Master, in-universe (Also called simply a GM) is a supernatural and immortal being that rules and administrates Mazeworld.
Overview
Their immense power and near complete control of Mazeworld is explained by the fact they have created the entire realm, and exist solely thanks to them. It is unknown why or how Mazeworld was created, but numerous rumors circulate between its dwellers and inhabitants, going as far as to call the GMs deities; although not many people really believe they are, and the GMs themselves do not like this definition, it's technically right.
Game Masters are essentially immortal concentrations of sentient energy, but have the power to materialize for themselves a "shell", which is nothing more than a body to house their true selves - which can be described as their "souls" of sorts. They are known to having no need to eat, sleep, regenerate, or reproduce, although they do willingly consume certain beverages for pleasure - most notably coffee.
Identity of the Game Masters
There are three Game Masters in Mazeworld. Despite the fact they are their own kind of being, the GMs take up recognizable appearances for their own convenience. They have separate given names, but they prefer being called "Game Master" or "GM".
The first takes the appearance of a human male. His name is Sergey Mikoyan, and he is the GM contestants hear on the loudspeakers in every room of the mazes. Being the only GM heard by contestants, it is widely believed he is the only one who has the ability to talk - although all three GMs are capable of speaking. His job is to watch over the contestants and track their performance and statistics.
The second takes the appearance of a youkai female. Her name is Hebizuka Jinkou, and she is the GM charged of randomness, room generation, and so on. She is sometimes referred to as the RNG, a double entendre on "Random Number Generator" - which is her main method of working - and on "Random Number God", which is basically, what she is.
The third takes the appearance of a genderless cyborg, although referred to as male. His name is Elias Keiban, and is the GM in charge of the Maze Personnel, the monsters and everything found in the rooms, living or not. He is the one who brings up ideas of new items, creatures, and other things to add to Mazeworld, and manages those already existing.
Notes
The Game Masters can be encountered as fought enemies.
- Hebizuka alone is the final boss of Survival Mode.
- The GMs are encountered during secret ending fights.
