.30-30 Winchester (also known as .30-30 Winchester Center Fire, .30-30 WCF or simply .30-30, pronounced Thirty-Thirty, more rarely 7.62x51mm R) is a rifle cartridge developed in 1895 by Winchester. It is one of the big three lever-action calibers, alongside .45-70 Government and .44-40 Winchester. Primarily designed for use in lever-action rifles, the .30-30 Winchester possesses an unique profile: a long, bottlenecked cartridge with a round-nosed projectile, so designed to avoid primer strikes inside of a lever-action rifle's magazine.
