Oct 22 00:09:06 <Hebizuka> [Session start!] Oct 22 00:09:30 <HashiBot> <Tempest> _After what seems like an eternity, you wake up. You have a bit of trouble understanding what happened... The last thing you remember, you're pretty sure you died, but here you are, slowly waking up from what seemed like a very long nap. The first thing you notice is that you're waking up in a hospital bedroom. It doesn't look like home or anywhere familiar._ Oct 22 00:09:34 <HashiBot> <Tempest> _The next thing you notice is that there appears to be someone waiting for you at your bedside ; a fifty-something man, dressed in a lab coat, with a look of concern - or is it relief? - on his face. He observes you waking up, but doesn't say a thing, figuring you want the first word._ Oct 22 00:16:58 <HashiBot> <Tempest> **[Medic]** Good morning, mister... Parra? It's a pleasure to see you are among the living again. I've been monitoring your vital signs for a while now, and they've all been stable. You probably feel confused, right now, and I understand, but first, I must ask you something; what is the last thing you remember? Oct 22 00:54:16 <HashiBot> <Parra> Well, what was a violently-prone Parra supposed to do? He'd probably died from his ongoing fighting with who-knows-what, and now he was alive again in some strange surroundings? The tired, lumbering giant of a horse-man flexed and clenched his fists, grumbling or growling as he tried rising in his bed to sit up. Words seemed lost on him, as he didn't really care to acknowledge this fella at his bedside, let alone respond. But lo and behold, when he finally spoke, it was in answer to the medic, "**Killing shit.**" There was so much gravel in his voice, it was abrasive to the ears. Yet he still didn't bother to look at the man. Dreary as he was from his long sleep, it felt like his eyes burned. Oct 22 00:55:46 <HashiBot> <Tempest> **[Medic]** Uh... Okay, yes, I suppose that's good... Yes, that's definitely good. _Ahem._ Oct 22 00:56:05 <HashiBot> <Tempest> **[Medic]** Let me explain myself ; you have, effectively, died. However, my superior, the Administrator, saw fit to select you for what I can best describe as bringing you back from the dead. You are no longer at home, Parra, you are somewhere else entirely - this realm is called the Mazes. Oct 22 00:56:33 <HashiBot> <Tempest> **[Medic]** But - I'm sorry. I forgot to introduce myself. I am Dr. Philip Gage, head of the Medical Science Team, chief of the Proving Grounds medical staff, and... how to put this. I'm the primary caretaker and creator of your body, so to speak. Along with my superior, the Administrator, we have... the best word to use here is "recreated" the body you're currently in. Oct 22 01:02:19 <HashiBot> <Parra> So much boring shit to listen to. The big man didn't really care to listen to him drone on, but he felt too tired to bother with shutting him up. But that's perfectly alright. Violence would solve that later. Parra dragged a hand over his chest, digging with blunt nails. Blunt as they were, they effectively left a trail of welts. He continued to scratch, reminding himself he was alive, while his other hand took up the blankets and lifted them, peering down over himself. Grumble. "**You didn't do a good job on recreating everything. Could've been bigger.**" Parra loosed the covers, and ceased to scratch himself, in order to stretch his arms, and arch his back. He only seemed mildly satisfied after a few loud pops erupted from his spine. A second later, he did the same with his neck, rolling his head around on his shoulders with a yawn. "**So what... You want me to kill *more* shit?**" Oct 22 01:05:25 <HashiBot> <Tempest> **[Dr. Gage]** ...Okay, so I'll get straight to the point. The Admin is mostly responsible for bringing you here and that I'm just following her orders, she has told me to tell you what your role here is. You may be referred to hereon as the **Contestant**. Your objective is to find four ancient, divine artifacts called the Cardinal Amulets. Oct 22 01:05:41 <HashiBot> <Tempest> **[Dr. Gage]** If you find all four of these Amulets, you will be able to go back home, safe and sound and alive again. Oct 22 01:06:01 <HashiBot> <Tempest> **[Dr. Gage]** Sadly I do not know much more, besides the fact that it's up to you to figure out where they are and how to acquire them. Why and how, I do not know either. She simply told me to say this is your primary objective. Oct 22 01:07:08 <HashiBot> <Tempest> **[Dr. Gage]** What I do know however, is that I have received gear - clothing, equipment, and weapons - and that it's all for you. It's over there, feel free to sort through it and take whatever you like. Oct 22 01:07:15 <HashiBot> <Tempest> (This equipment is what you already have on your sheet.) Oct 22 01:12:04 <HashiBot> <Parra> "**So. What. Do I get to fight, or do you expect me to use my brain to solve shit.**" Parra reached down to grab the covers once more. At the mention of gear, it seemed he was rather eager to see if he had any goodies. Tossing the blanket aside, he stood up *on* the bed, in allllll of his glory. It seemed like he was testing out his 'new' legs, too. Only after he was satisfied (and after a few stretches and flexes to ensure he'd be satisfied with the muscular meat he was remade with), did he step down off the bed and stride over to inspect this gear. "**Why would I want to go home *safe and sound*? That doesn't sound interesting at all.**" He really didn't seem to be talking to the doc who had a hand in his 'revival'... Oct 22 01:13:42 <HashiBot> <Tempest> **[Dr. Gage]** Well, if it's action you're looking for, there is plenty of that in the Mazes. Outside of towns, the Uncivilized Area is what we call everything in between towns and cities, and there is no shortage of things to fight... In any case, when you're ready to follow me out, I'll take you to the center of our town, Arnett. I'll give you a few pointers, and you'll be on your way afterwards, okay? Oct 22 01:21:22 <HashiBot> <Parra> "**I suppose that means I'll keep having to listen to you. You sound like you have tiny balls.**" Parra's teeth gritted while he said it, though he was actively pulling on these new clothes. It wasn't nearly as heavy, or as armored, as he'd have liked. He peered down at himself after pulling on the pants and jacket. Tsk. "**You couldn't have just given me what I had on me when I died, could you have. What, do you have something against tanks?**" Yet after he finally strapped himself into his new boots, the beast of a man finally turned back to the poor, small doctor. Slinging his shotgun after a brief inspection over the weapon, he rest his hand at the hilt of his sword, looking more than ready to find an excuse to use it. "**Hurry up, then. And don't waste my time with anything unnecessary.**" Oct 22 01:22:22 <HashiBot> <Tempest> **[Dr. Gage]** Right this way, then. Oct 22 01:25:20 <HashiBot> <Tempest> _The good doctor leads the way out of the facility you woke up in, barely registering that it is some sort of lab or scientific facility. Through corridors and rooms, you follow until you reach the center of Arnett, the Social Square Center._ Oct 22 01:25:40 <HashiBot> <Tempest> **[Dr. Gage]** Welcome to Arnett, and more generally welcome to the Mazes. I hope you will be able to succeed in your mission and that you will stay alive. Before you go, three pointers for you. Oct 22 01:25:48 <HashiBot> <Tempest> **[Dr. Gage]** One, every town is more or less patterned the same way - they all have a social square, a center plaza like this one, and common features such as a hospital, a bank, some form of special facility, and whatnot. If you're ever lost, find the plaza of this town and look for the map - it will tell you where you are and where to go. Oct 22 01:26:31 <HashiBot> <Tempest> **[Dr. Gage]** Two, you will probably want to find clues about where to go next for your primary objective. I advise you to ask around in town. The hiring bureau, the local bar, or anywhere else you feel you might find what you need. Oct 22 01:26:47 <HashiBot> <Tempest> **[Dr. Gage]** Three, the best place for information and the place you want to go to if you need money, is the Hiring Bureau. Think of it as a sort of combination of post office and job finding agency. If you're ever in need of something to do for cash, my advice is to ask there first. Oct 22 01:38:53 <HashiBot> <Parra> Parra might've followed, but every step of the way, he had it in his mind that he wanted to kill this stupid freaking doctor. He just couldn't get under his skin! It was disturbingly unnatural, and it made Parra tense. And angry. But once they'd reached the Center, he was already leaving the doctor in his tracks to go check out the map. He'd heard something about a bar, but he didn't see much in the way of currency in his pack... "**Hiring *Burro*....**" Yeah, he said it wrong. Or maybe it was a pun. After all, he was a horse... Turning away from the map after examining it for a moment, he started off to go find this place. Maybe they'd have a job for him where he could kill shit. Oct 22 01:39:19 <HashiBot> <Tempest> <**M02: First Town** - Quest complete!> <**M03: Take the Long Way Home** - Quest started.> Oct 22 01:39:57 <HashiBot> <Tempest> M03 objective 1: Head to Arnett’s Hiring Bureau to register yourself as a contractor: the Hiring Bureau is the place to go to find jobs and initiate sidequests, in order to earn money and acquire better gear. Oct 22 01:42:58 <HashiBot> <Tempest> _Gage immediately nods and quickly and quietly wishes you good luck. You take a peek at the local map and figure out that it's just 3 rooms away, which you travel. Once there, you notice a few things; firstly, it's 8 AM, and secondly, the Hirer is the only other person in the Bureau._ Oct 22 01:43:56 <HashiBot> <Tempest> _The Hirer looks like a middle-aged asian male human, and he looks as though he hasn't had a pleasant night - there is a steaming cup of coffee on the desk, and his face reads tiredness and lack of sleep. He looks up at you when he realizes you're here - waiting for you to speak up._ Oct 22 01:54:42 <HashiBot> <Parra> "**Ree.**" Oct 22 01:57:19 <HashiBot> <Tempest> **[Hirer]** Hunh? Oct 22 02:04:05 <HashiBot> <Parra> 8AM? Parra already felt exhausted, again. Why the hell did he have to be awake so *early*? I mean, sure, he'd been sleeping for god knows how long, but just glancing at the clock made the big man all the grumpier. Glowering at the clock, Parra almost reached up to his slung shotty, considering shooting the thing out of spite. But violence can't fix this. Besides, there was only one other person to fight if he stirred shit up! Not worth it. Turning towards the man at the desk, he peered down at the tiny fella. Perhaps he even took some time to stare at the cup of coffee enviously. But he had some business to tend to. If he wanted to fill his heart with coffee, and preferably some whiskey as well, he'd need more cash. And he didn't even know how much anything cost! He just knew that he wanted to afford everything he wanted without worrying for his pocket. Oct 22 02:04:05 <HashiBot> "**You got things for me to hurt for money?**" Oct 22 02:04:50 <HashiBot> <Tempest> **[Hirer]** Whah? Uh... Oh. You're lookin' for a job? You... You're not registered yet though. I don't think. What's your full name? Oct 22 02:06:12 <HashiBot> <Parra> "**Yeah. Parra. Register me.**" Oct 22 02:10:22 <HashiBot> <Tempest> **[Hirer]** ...And here, that's done. You're in the system now. Sadly, I don't have any jobs for you yet - but maybe if you check back later. Can I do anything else for you in the meantime? Any... information, or anything I can give you? Oct 22 02:10:28 <HashiBot> <Tempest> _<Objective 1 is complete.>_ Oct 22 02:10:40 <HashiBot> <Tempest> 2) Ask around in Arnett and inquire about the Cardinal Amulets’ supposed whereabouts. Oct 22 02:12:06 <HashiBot> <Parra> Was highly displeased that there were no jobs. **HE WANTED TO KILL SHIT FOR MONEY.** Glaring down at the small, Asian man, he spoke through gritted teeth. "**Yeah. Cardinal Amulets. Where do I get them. And can I break them.**" Oct 22 02:12:07 <HashiBot> <Gear> Level up! @Parra is now **level 14**. Oct 22 02:13:54 <HashiBot> <Tempest> **[Hirer]** Cardinal Amulets?... Hmm. I think I heard something about that when I went to the shrine in Semitas... You should go there and ask the local shrine maidens, I'm sure they'll be happy to tell you where they are. Just get to the town entrance, and follow the UA road to Semitas. You look like you can handle yourself, you shouldn't have problems. Oct 22 02:14:02 <HashiBot> <Tempest> _<Objective 2 is complete.>_ Oct 22 02:14:13 <HashiBot> <Tempest> 3) Ask the shrine maidens at Semitas about information regarding the Cardinal Amulets. Oct 22 02:18:20 <HashiBot> <Parra> "**K. Find something for me to fight while I'm gone.**" So I guess Parra is gunna go to Semitas. Or to that bar, and see if they were open, yet, this early in the morning... Yeah, he's gunna head to the bar. Oct 22 02:26:41 <HashiBot> <Tempest> _The bar, which is called the Bolt Face, is just 6 rooms away, and you do find it open. You end up in the hall. You find it empty - eight tables, all empty. Perhaps a bit too early. The bar room is one room to the east - you'll find the counter and the bartender there."_ Oct 22 02:32:18 <HashiBot> <Parra> "**You. How much for coffee and whiskey.**" Parra didn't even really look around, after he realized there was no one here to fight. Oct 22 02:34:25 <HashiBot> <Tempest> **[Barkeep]** Good morning, dude. It's 60 P$ for a shot of whiskey and 5 P$ for a cup of black coffee. Or 15 if you prefer cappucino. Oct 22 02:35:54 <HashiBot> <Parra> "**And rum...?**" Parra obviously wasn't enthused with the cost. Oct 22 02:37:40 <HashiBot> <Tempest> **[Barkeep]** I don't have any rum on tap, am afraid. Oct 22 02:38:16 <HashiBot> <Parra> "**Fine. Coffee with a shot of whiskey.**" Oct 22 02:38:24 <HashiBot> <Tempest> **[Barkeep]** That'll be 65 P$. Oct 22 02:38:40 <HashiBot> <Tempest> _You will have 85 P$ left after you pay, is this OK?_ Oct 22 02:38:55 <HashiBot> <Parra> OK Oct 22 02:40:01 <Hebizuka> [Food] Beverage - Cup of coffee, black. 14 ntri, 48 wtr - Agility+1, Alertness increase for 10 turns, Fatigue -4.0%, Stress +0.4% - Weight: 1 Oct 22 02:40:04 <Hebizuka> [Food] Beverage - Shot of whiskey. 250 ntri, 22 wtr per part - Alcoholic (Inebriation +6.0 per part) - Addictive (Alcohol) - Weight: 1 Oct 22 02:49:15 <HashiBot> <Parra> Parra peered briefly at the drinks upon the counter, grumbling. He wasn't pleased with the cost, but a drink was a drink. Mixing the coffee and whiskey, he lifted his mug and drank it down. Not a sip. Not a gulp. He just opened his maw and drank down every last drop. Every. Last. One. Pulling the empty mug away, he slammed it back down, just light enough to avoid destroying the thing. Oct 22 02:49:35 <HashiBot> <Tempest> (( We're going to resolve the effects of those drinks on the next sesh. Oct 22 02:49:39 <Hebizuka> [Session end!]
