The .300 Winchester Magnum (also known simply as .300 Win Mag, or sometimes .300 WM) is a high-caliber rifle cartridge developed in 1963 by the Winchester Repeating Arms Company.

It is a match-grade caliber, intended for long-range sniping purposes, and possesses appropriate power for this job; as such, it is considered a top-tier round.

A very popular caliber, the .300 Win Mag is very versatile, being used by hunters, long-range competition shooters, military and law-enforcement snipers, and many more. It is the most popular .30 caliber cartridge in the United States, popular for moose, elk and bighorn sheep hunting, and won many 1000-yard (910 meters) competitions.

The .300 Winchester Magnum was introduced as part of the company's "Winchester Magnum" caliber series. It is based on the .375 H&H Magnum, shortened and necked down to accept a .30 caliber bullet. It was first introduced for use in the extremely popular Winchester Model 70 sniper rifle, and is nowadays used in several hunting and military sniper rifles, such as the United States Marine Corps-issued M24A2 SWS, the finnish Sako TRG-42 or the .300 variant of the Accuracy Intl. AWM.

Its ballistic performance has been compared to the .30-06 Springfield, although the main difference lies in recoil - the .300 Win Mag is reported to have up to 40% more recoil than the .30-06.

How to read this?

As a match-grade caliber, the .300 Winchester Magnum is capable of killing anything that isn't even remotely protected with some form of armor. Even against targets with better protection, the .300 Win Mag remains very dangerous and is quite capable of taking them down.

It is however a rare caliber, used only by a few weapons at all in Mazeworld, all of them are sniper rifles. .300 Win Mag are available only in boxes of 30 rounds, and can be found either at random in the rooms, or bought at a gun shop/weapon shop for the prohibitive price of 225 P$/box.

Because of its rarity, it is a highly prohibitive caliber with which ammunition conservation is more than recommended. However, it remains a very interesting caliber to use and will provide the contestant with a powerful and reliable cartridge, if he/she cannot afford or find more powerful.
