The 7.62x25mm Tokarev (also known as simply 7.62 Tokarev) is a handgun cartridge developed in 1930 by the Soviet Union. It is a somewhat rare cartridge used in handguns and submachine guns. It is considered a low-tier caliber due to its relatively low power.

Real-life data

The 7.62 Tokarev caliber is an enhanced and Soviet-made variant of the 7.62x25mm Mauser cartridge. It was produced with a very wide array of loading, from standard ball to armor-piercing, incendiary, and tracer, among others.

The cartridge was and still is notably used in the Tokarev TT-33 pistol, as well as other well-known weapons such as the PPSh-41 and PPS-43 submachine guns. All of those weapons were all main weapons in the Soviet military before the advent of the AK-47 and popular overall during World War II.

Considered obsolete nowadays and replaced by overpressured 9x19mm Parabellum ammunition in the Russian military, the 7.62 Tokarev caliber is still used nowadays by reserve units and other military forces in the world, such as China, due to the very large quantity of ammunition produced that is still available.

How to read this?

The 7.62x25mm Tokarev caliber is considered a low-tier caliber due to its low power, being only the 25th most powerful caliber in the game (5th lowest), requiring at best three shots to kill an enemy (outside of shots to weak points and limbs).

Weaker than most handgun cartridges, it is a less interesting caliber to use. This cartridge is best used as a finisher, or a self-defense round if the primary intention of the contestant is only to injure, damage without killing, or finish off an already wounded opponent.

This caliber has the advantage of being cheap and, when found, available usually in reasonably high quantity every time. As such, 7.62 Tokarev rounds are quantity over quality - shooting long bursts makes up for the individually low power of every round. Compatible with three weapons, two of them being submachine guns with high magazine capacities, 7.62 Tokarev should be definitely used to "spam" shots at enemies.

7.62 Tokarev ammunition can be found at random in the rooms, or bought in a gun shop/weapon shop should they have compatible weapons available. Very cheap, ammunition is available at 0,5 P$/round, in boxes of 50 or 250.
