Performing a stealth shot is one of the contestant's abilities.

A contestant needs to have taken cover successfully, so his/her enemy did not notice him/her, and own a weapon that is either naturally silent, or equipped with a silencer. If the contestant met both of those requirements, he/she can attempt a stealth shot.

Using a silenced weapon, the contestant can attempt shooting at his/her foe from behind her cover, and remain stealthy. The enemy is likely to hear (and be hurt) by the shot, but will not know where the shot came from, until the contestant busts his/her cover or uses a weapon that isn't silenced. This can be useful as even if the contestant misses his/her shot, he/she will remain hidden and the encounter is likely to not attack.

Stealth has added usefulness in certain areas of the Mazes that are composed of sections directly adjacent to each other, such as during certain missions; if the contestant remains undetected and is capable of taking down enemies without giving them time to ring an alarm, they can proceed without encountering prepared enemies. Failure to do so typically means that those enemies will have heard gunshots or trouble, and will prepare themselves for combat. For example, Soldiers in a Barracks will be automatically behind some sort of cover in the next section if the contestant failed to retain stealth.
It must be noted that this is relevant in certain missions, such as Mission 3.

Non-firearms: It is possible to use the techniques described above to attempt a stealth kill with a melee weapon, such as with a knife, or the piano wire which can only be used that way. It is noticeably riskier, as if dice are against the contestant, he/she will be noticed and the foe will attack. On the other hand, if successful, the attack will do damage as normal; it is recommended to hit a weak point if the attack is done that way, to ensure stealth. Ranged Class 5 weapons, such as the Bow, are also considered stealthy by default.

Beware to users of weapon lights and laser sights. A weapon light turned on will break stealth immediately, as light easily draws attention. A laser sight will break stealth as well if the red dot is noticed by another encounter.
