The .22 Long Rifle (also known as simply .22 LR) is a small caliber, long established among firearm users since the 19th century. It is very suited for recreational shooting, firearms training, small game hunting, or pest control.
It is the second least powerful round of Mazeworld, faring only slightly better than .32 ACP.
Real-life data
A very well established firearm caliber, the .22 LR is a rimfire cartridge, and one of the few to be suited for both handguns and long guns, provided they're compatible with the round. Virtually every firearm manufacturer in the world has produced a weapon or a weapon variant in this caliber. It is an extremely popular cartridge in the world, known for its very low cost, minimal recoil, and low noise.
Originally created by the J. Stevens Arm & Tool Company (now known as Stevens Arms) in 1887, it is one variant of many .22 cartridges, such as the .22 Short, .22 Long, and .22 Extra Long. The .22 LR cartridge was developed by taking the casing of a .22 Long and using the bullet of a .22 Extra Long.
The caliber enjoys very widespread usage and recognition from both novice shooters and firearm experts. It is extremely popular for recreational shooting (also known as plinking), firearms training for beginners, pest control, small game hunting, and so on. It is the official caliber of certain Olympic shooting disciplines, as well as a variety of other shooting sports.

Simply put, this caliber's terribly anemic performance even against unarmored targets, makes it an extremely difficult caliber for contestants to fight with - it is the second least powerful caliber of the game (28th most powerful). Its low power has no real practical use, and has barely enough power to kill in case of a headshot (which provides a x5 damage bonus), and even then headshots aren't guaranteed, due to the +1 Failure threshold malus.
In practice however, this also applies for the contestant's enemies. Some of them may be equipped with a .22 LR weapon, in which case they aren't even a significant threat. With higher-grade armor, starting at Kevlar-4, the contestant becomes completely immune to the caliber.
Using a .22 LR weapon is not recommended even if nothing better is available at the moment, unless the contestant seeks for a challenge. Finding .22 LR ammunition isn't particularly easy, as it can be found at random in the rooms, in one of the three compatible weapons' magazines, or at a gun shop or weapon shop if they have some available. Sold at the ridiculously low price of 1 P$ for 5 rounds, and in boxes of 50 or 250, it is extremely easy to stock up on .22 LR ammunition (but consequently, its selling price is even lower.)
Curiously, some .22 LR ammo can be found in one supply crate, namely the Type-D crate, along with a Ruger Mark III and other random items. 30 rounds can be found inside.
