Capable of killing an unarmored target in one shot, and severely crippling most human-sized targets should they not wear at least Type 3 Kevlar vest, it is quite a threat for whoever is on the business end of a weapon chambered in this caliber.

In most situations, one to two shots only are required to down a target with such a weapon. Though, due to the fact  compatible weapons are of varying types, it all depends on what the contestant needs and/or intends to do. As a rule of thumb, with such power, there are two viable options available depending on the weapon (and equipped accessories) used: either firing two, or three shots to the chest, or trying to aim (best with scope mode if available) to the head, should do the job in most situations.

7.62x54mm R ammunition is somewhat rare, and belted ammo even more so, as respectively, only a few weapons use the regular rounds, and only one weapon uses the belted ones. Non-belted ammo can be found in boxes of 20 or 100 while the belted rounds can be found in 200-round belts for the PKP Pecheneg.

Ammunition can be found at random in the rooms or bought in a gun shop or a weapon shop if they have compatible weapons. Standard ammunition can be bought for 6 P$/round in the aforementioned boxes of 20 or 100, and belted ammunition can be bought in belts of 200 for 1200 P$, an extremely high price matching the Pecheneg's extreme power.

The 7.62x54mm R is a large rifle caliber developed in 1891, and suited for sniper rifles, and in belted form, machine guns. It is considered a high-tier caliber in Mazeworld.

Real-life data

The 7.62x54mm R is the oldest military cartridge and among the rare rimmed cartridges still in regular service in military forces in the world. Developed in 1891, it is more than 120 years old. The R in its name stands for Rimmed, but it was a common misconception to believe it meant "Russian".

Originally developed for the famous Mosin-Nagant rifle, it saw and still sees use nowadays in sniper rifles, such as the well-known Dragunov sniper rifle and machine guns, such as the PKM or the PKP.

Its ballistic performance is very comparable to that of the American 7.62x51mm NATO, but has power comparable to the .30-06 Springfield. It is sometimes nicknamed the "Russian Thirty-Aught-Six" because of this. During World War II, it was part of the "big three" of service calibers, alongside its [German and American counterparts.

Originally, 7.62x54mm R rounds were developed with a round nosed, full-metal jacketed bullet, but the Russo-Japanese War led Russia to develop a new variant in 1908 which uses a spitzer bullet with a lighter gunpowder load; this configuration remained standard up to nowadays.
Later, with the development of the Dragunov sniper rifle, another variant called 7N1 was developed specifically for the SVD as a purely anti-personnel round.
