A delicatessen (sometimes simply a deli) is a business in Mazeworld specialized in buying and selling food items. They double as a restaurant of sorts, since food can be eaten on the spot, or taken away. People in charge of delicatessen are called food merchants.

Rules of a delicatessen

  • Sells 24 random foods
  • Only sells one exemplary of every food item displayed.
  • Buys back food items for 50% of their value.
  • Accepts credit.
  • Accepts valuables and will exchange them for money or credit.
  • For four foods bought, the fifth is free

When threatened, a food merchant will attempt calming down the contestant by offering him/her the stolen swag for free. This is however a trap; the stolen food will be spiked with cyanide.
If the food merchant is killed in action, the contestant will not be able to use ANY delicatessen in the game anymore, and any subsequent room in which a delicatessen was meant to be found will be instead considered a crime scene guarded by Maze Guards.
Threatening or attacking a food merchant gives the contestant a code orange, and killing one instantly increases it to a code red.

If the food merchant dies, he/she will drop the following:
