From Mazeworld

The act of identifying unknown objects is part of Mazeworld. Identification is required to tell apart items that look the same, but are in fact, different.

Two major categories of items possess items that require identification:

How to identify items

A contestant cannot usually identify by himself/herself items. He/she requires assistance from certain NPCs for that.

Gems can be identified by archaeologists, medical aids by medics, and peaceful scientists can do both.
An identified item will remain so until said item is sold, or is forgot due to the effects of ketamine, which causes forgetfulness of identified items.

Certain items may be found already identified. This is the case of items found in crates, for example.

Lastly, a bionic implant allows a contestant to gain the ability to identify items by themselves; the Item Composition Identification Scanner (ICIS).
