It must be noted that backpacks all enable the ability to have a money pouch, and belts enable the ability to carry key items other than the Cardinal Amulets. Without a backpack, no money pouch, and without a belt, no key items.
-
The most important capability of a backpack, other than the fact it enables the contestant's inventory, is that it has a limited weight capacity. Weight is expressed in "units", and every kind of backpack has a different maximum capacity. It is impossible to go over this capacity period; if the backpack becomes full, it cannot carry any more. Most items have a weight of 1, but there are items with different weights, such as pieces of clothing, armor, or weapons as among the heaviest, while other items such as ammunition or money, weighing as little as 0.01 unit per item. Rarely, there exists a few weightless items whose size and weight are insignificant to the backpack.
+
-
Every backpack is equipped with a money pouch, a special container which is made to carry money. It can carry up to 2000 P$ before being full, providing the contestant with a safe area to store money in without being concerned about weight.

Standard backpack
+
-
A standard, frameless backpack made mostly of cloth. The standard backpack has a maximum capacity of 50 units, which is good for starting contestants but may, over time, be a bit too limited for the needs of middle or end of game. Like the others, it can be found in a clothes shop or a pawn shop. This backpack's straps will rip at 60 units.
+
-

+
-
Handbag
+
-
The handbag is an optional "backpack" that is sometimes found in the mazes, at a clothes shop or a pawn shop. It is not really a "back" pack per se, but counts as such. In Mazeworld, their maximum capacity of 20 units prevent them from carrying too much items. A word of advice though, it is very easy to overload; the straps will rip off starting at 24 units.
+
-

+
-
Advanced backpack
+
-
The advanced backpack is an upgraded version of the standard backpack. It is larger, has an internal frame, and more carrying space. A major improvement over its standard cousin, it is a must have for every contestant. Its maximum capacity of 90 units allows for a reliable amount of space, which may be used for spare weapons for players who have multiple weapon configurations. It is able to sustain overloading better than its smaller variants, as straps will rip at 102 units carried.
+
-

+
-
Combat backpack
+
-
The best backpack of the game, it is a military-grade backpack with an external frame. Even larger than the advanced backpack, its very generous maximum capacity of 140 units allows for multiple spare weapons, lots of space for ammunition, and is very suited to carrying crafting materials in bulk. Its overload resistance is very high, as the straps will remain in place until 168 units carried.
+
-

+
-
72 Pattern load-bearing equipment
+
-
The 72 Pattern LBE is a simple webbing system with pouches designed to carry only the necessary - ammunition for the wearer's weapon(s), and a pouch capable of carrying only a small selection of objects - only the strict necessary for one day or two, not designed for endurance or long-distance.
+
-

+
-
*It can carry up to 15 units of weight.
+
-
*An ammo pouch (6 units)
+
-

+
-
It is not recommended to overload the vest with equipment, as it will rip at 18 units carried excluding the ammo pouch.
+
-

+
-
*The 72P LBE is standard-issue for Maze Soldiers and DF Soldiers of Private rank and for Maze Guards and Guard Sergeants.
+
-

+
-
IIFS load-bearing equipment
+
-
The Individual Integrated Fighting System LBE or IIFS is a lightweight vest offering minimum carrying capacity on top of specialized carrying capability.
+
-

+
-
*It can carry up to 25 units of weight.
+
-
*An ammo pouch (6 units)
+
-

+
-
It is not recommended to overload the vest with equipment, as it will rip at 30 units carried excluding the ammo pouch.
+
-

+
-
*The IIFS LBE is standard issue for Maze Soldiers and DF Soldiers of Sergeant rank and for Guard chiefs.
+
-

+
-
RM22SF load-bearing equipment
+
-
The RM22SF LBE is a tactical vest intended for special forces units. It offers light carrying capacity on top of specialized carrying capability.
+
-

+
-
*It can carry up to 35 units of weight.
+
-
*An ammo pouch (10 units)
+
-

+
-
It is not recommended to overload the vest with equipment, as it will rip at 42 units excluding the ammo pouches.
+
-

+
-
*The RM22SF LBE is standard issue for Maze Soldiers and DF Soldiers of Lieutenant rank.
+
-

+
-
PLCE load-bearing equipment
+
-
The Personal Load-Carrying Equipment LBE/Pack combo is a tactical vest/backpack combination intended for military personnel. It offers moderate carrying capacity on top of specialized carrying capability.
+
-

+
-
*It can carry up to 50 units of weight.
+
-
*An ammo pouch (10 units)
+
-
*A consumables pouch (6 units)
+
-

+
-
The PLCE will rip at 60 units excluding the contents of both pouches. It is an interesting replacement for a standard backpack and easily rivals in usefulness an advanced backpack.
+
-

+
-
*The PLCE LBE/Pack combo is standard issue for Maze Soldiers and DF Soldiers of Captain rank.
+
-

+
-
MOLLE load-bearing equipment
+
-
The MOdular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment or MOLLE (pronounced "Molly") is a LBE/Pack combo offering a large tactival vest/rucksack combination intended for military personnel on long journeys. It offers large carrying capacity on top of specialized carrying capability.
+
-

+
-
*It can carry up to 85 units of weight.
+
-
*An ammo pouch (10 units)
+
-
*A consumables pouch (6 units)
+
-
*A spare weapon rig (5 units, one weapon, no Class limitation)
+
-

+
-
The MOLLE will rip at 102 units excluding the contents of all three pouches. Although it doesn't possess the raw, large carrying capability of a combat backpack, the MOLLE LBE/Pack combo offers plenty of specialized carrying equipment for free, which is tailored to the needs of a seasoned and prepared combatant.
+
-

+
-
Il Duce webbing
+
-

Revision as of 18:51, 13 March 2014

Load-bearing equipment (often shortened as LBE) is arguably the most important type of item that is given to the contestant in the beginning of his/her adventure in Mazeworld. LBE gear is what allows the contestant to have an inventory and carry items.

It may be worn by creatures who don't wear clothing and armor, on the conditions that if they can pick up and use firearms, they can wear LBE. Please check individual encounter articles to know if a certain species can do so.

There are 4 different LBE categories:

 • Load-bearing vests
 • Backpacks
 • Belts
 • Leg rigs

Up to 1 of each (2 for leg rigs) can be worn at the same type by Contestants and any creature capable of carrying weapons.

Capacity

Every piece of load-bearing gear can have two traits: a general carrying capacity, and one or multiple specialized carrying capacities. All of those capacities are expressed in weight units, and show the maximum weight they can carry in items.

General carrying capacity denotes the capability to carry anything; only maximum weight matters. Specialized carrying capacity, on the other hand, denotes the capability to carry only a certain type of item, as well as limits in quantity, max individual weight or max total weight, which is usually described clearly on the LBE event line.

 • For example, an ammunition pouch described as (8 mags only, max weight per mag 1.6), means that this pouch can only carry up to 8 magazines, and each magazine must not exceed 1.6 units in weight individually, otherwise they cannot be carried in that pouch and must be stored somewhere else.

It must be noted that backpacks all enable the ability to have a money pouch, and belts enable the ability to carry key items other than the Cardinal Amulets. Without a backpack, no money pouch, and without a belt, no key items.
