The .454 Casull is a revolver cartridge developed in 1959 by Dick Casull and Jack Fulmer. It is considered a high-tier caliber in Mazeworld.

Real-life data

In 1959, the Guns & Ammo magazine in the United States announced the introduction of a new caliber called .454 Casull. Designed two years prior by firearm designers Dick Casull and Jack Fulmer, the general idea behind the .454 Casull is that it is a lenghtened, strengthened .45 Colt case, and fitted with a small rifle primer instead of a pistol primer. .454 Casull was made to develop very high chamber pressure (up to 65000 CUP), and is intended for large game hunting, or self-defense against large predators (Bears...).

As a result, .454 Casull develops far more energy (about 3.5x) than its predecessor, but also far more recoil (5x more recoil energy than .45 Colt, and 1.75x more than .44 Magnum). This translates to an extremely powerful handgun caliber, but difficult to control and to which extreme caution must be exercised when shooting. This turned it into one of most powerful factory handgun cartridges in the world.

It must be noted that much like how .357 Magnum revolvers may also shoot .38 Special, .454 Casull revolvers may fire normal .45 Colt without much problems.
