Calculations
Calculations
-
* The baseline value corresponds to the amount of hydration units that represents proper hydration. For a human creature such as the Contestant, the baseline value is 700 wtr, calulated as meat worth * 10. Human meat worth being 70, 70 * 10 = 700.
+
* The Baseline Value for hydration represents the amount of water necessary to make up one day worth of proper hydration. Every day at midnight, hydration is reduced by an amount equivalent to the Baseline Value (this is called the daily hydration reset) therefore it is necessary to ensure that enough water has been drunk during the rest of the day. There are no negative consequences for drinking too much, but not drinking enough may cause negative effects.
-
* Non-human creatures may have another meat worth value; for example, the Kitsune's meat worth is 56, meaning the Baseline Value (BV) is 560wtr. Thus, a kitsune needs less water than a human to sustain themselves, but may need to drink more frequently to compensate.
+
* The BV is calulated as meat worth * 10.
-
* Multiply the hydration Baseline Value (BV) by the amounts displayed in the table above to figure out a creature's hydration thresholds.
+
** Example: A human (meat worth 70) has a hydration Baseline Value of 700 (70 * 10). A kitsune (meat worth 56) has a hydration baseline value of 560 (56 * 10).
+
* The best and most common ways to replenish hydration are: Drinking water or other beverages, or eating certain food items high in wtr. Besides the daily reset, certain effects may cause hydration to go down, and certain other food items may deplete hydration (they have a negative wtr value).
+
* Hydration caps at 2x BV on the upper end, and 3x nBV on the lower end.
+
** For example, a human (BV: 700 wtr) cannot have more than 1400 wtr or less than -2100 wtr.
-
Examples:

-
* A human's thresholds of hydration are 0 - 210 (0.3x BV) - 420 (0.6x BV) - 700 (1x BV) - 1400 (2x BV).

-
* A kitsune's baseline value is 560 (10 * 56), meaning that their thresholds are 0 - 168 - 336 - 560 - 1120.

-

-
How it works
-

-
*Every turn, under normal conditions, all creatures lose 1 wtr. This is called natural thirst.

-
*Drinking water and eating certain food items is, naturally, the best way to replenish hydration. Beware however as many food items deplete hydration rather than replenish it.

-
*Always be on the lookout for sources of water : room furniture such as sinks, toilets and showers all provide water that can be consumed and water can be taken from these sources at a rate of 80 wtr/turn, either through direct drinking or refilling existing items.

Effects
Effects
-
The various states of thirst and hydration may cause different secondary effects.

-

-
* Hydrated does not have any effects. When reaching Max hydration (2x BV), the hydration counter simply caps and no further wtr can be absorbed when consuming items that replenish hydration.

-
* Thirsty: Decreased Strength (-10%)
+
* Hydrated: No effects. The creature has had more than enough water and is well hydrated.

* Thirsty: Strength -10%. The creature feels dryness in their mouth and needs a drink soon.

* Dehydrated: Strength -20%, FT +1. The creature is starting to feel weak and dizzy from the lack of water.

+
* Very dehydrated: Strength -30%, FT +1, Hallucinations. The creature is starting to feel the effects of thirst delirium, and is in danger of dying from dehydration.
-
* Dying:
+
* If hydration reaches a value equal to negative 3 times the baseline value, death by dehydration immediately occurs.
-
** Decreased Strength (-20%)
+
-
** Decreased accuracy (FT+2)
+
-
** Increased Pain Sensitivity (+10%)
+
-
** Hallucinations (thirst delirium)
+
-
** Starts a Hydration death counter which begins at 30, and ticks down by 1 every turn. If hydration isn't replenished within 30 turns, the Contestant dies of dehydration.

Hydration is one of the vital statistics tracked on every contestant. The primary items that affect Hydration are certain food items ; largely beverages - as well as sources of water in general; room furniture such as showers and sinks. Hydration is measured into abstract hydration units or body water units, called wtr.

Values

Thresholds Effects
1x BV : 2x BV Hydrated
0 wtr : 1x BV -1 wtr OK
1x nBV +1 wtr : -1 wtr Thirsty
2x nBV +1 wtr : 1x nBV Dehydrated
3x nBV +1 : 2x nBV Very dehydrated
3x nBV Death

Legend:

  • BV: Baseline Value
  • nBV: Negative Baseline Value

Calculations

  • The Baseline Value for hydration represents the amount of water necessary to make up one day worth of proper hydration.
  • The BV is calulated as meat worth * 10.
    • Example: A human (meat worth 70) has a hydration Baseline Value of 700 (70 * 10). A kitsune (meat worth 56) has a hydration baseline value of 560 (56 * 10).
  • The best and most common ways to replenish hydration are: Drinking water or other beverages, or eating certain food items high in wtr. Besides the daily reset, certain effects may cause hydration to go down, and certain other food items may deplete hydration (they have a negative wtr value).
  • Hydration caps at 2x BV on the upper end, and 3x nBV on the lower end.
    • For example, a human (BV: 700 wtr) cannot have more than 1400 wtr or less than -2100 wtr.

Effects

  • Hydrated: No effects. The creature has had more than enough water and is well hydrated.
  • OK: No effects.
  • Thirsty: Strength -10%. The creature feels dryness in their mouth and needs a drink soon.
  • Dehydrated: Strength -20%, FT +1. The creature is starting to feel weak and dizzy from the lack of water.
  • Very dehydrated: Strength -30%, FT +1, Hallucinations. The creature is starting to feel the effects of thirst delirium, and is in danger of dying from dehydration.
  • If hydration reaches a value equal to negative 3 times the baseline value, death by dehydration immediately occurs.

Notes

  • Inediate creatures do not suffer from the effects of nutrition as they simply do not have a nutrition or a hydration counter to begin with.
