A maid is a person employed in domestic service. Maids are always female(/futanari), but have a male(/otoko) counterpart, the butler. Their only equipment is a simple broom in most cases, which they use as a weapon in occasional moments, though they can be given more specialized and modern cleaning equipment should the need arise.

Like with butlers, three types of maids can be distinguished:

  • The lone maids working for no-one in particular, cleaning the floor and dusting in rooms as they are assigned by the Game Masters; those maids work for the GMs for a minimum wage of 85 P$/day and usually are seeking someone to work for.
  • The maids that are employed or owned by someone else, and for whom they work exclusively. Their employer chooses their wage and may pay them as much as they please, as well as setting up any form of contract they wish (maids can be required, for example, to be armed, and be protecting their employers as a requirement), so long as the maid explicitly agrees with the employer's terms.
  • The promoted maids that became Head maids. More info on their article. A maid becomes head maid after promotion by the GMs.

A maid is considered part of the Maze Personnel and is usually respected as such, although it is one of the lowest ranking jobs in Mazeworld. Maids are extremely commonplace; they can be found just about everywhere, as many citizens seeking for a job are likely to accept this or butler to earn something, should they not have the skills required for another occupation, or need something to make the ends meet.

Maids are, because of their amount and low social status in the mazes, also subject to forms of abuse by other members of the Maze Personnel, gratuitous violence and rapes ranking amount the most frequent.
Privately employed maids, however, are much less frequently subject to such abuse as their employers, or even their direct superiors are usually armed and ready to protect them.

Both kinds remain more vulnerable to attacks from creatures, as their only issued equipment is a broom, but won't hesitate, if they do find any, to pick up extra weapons to defend themselves.

Maids are ubiquitous in Mazeworld, being almost always present cleaning some kind of room or doing their business. As peaceful creatures, maids are friendly and won't hesitate to chat with the contestant, and help them around if they can.
Threatening or attacking a maid, whether she has an employer or not, is unlawful and instantly gives the contestant a code orange wanted level. Killing one is worthy of a code red.

By themselves, maids may not seem very useful. Equipped with light clothing, a fairly useless Class 5 weapon, and no particular service to give, maids may look like (cannon) fodder for the Mazes' dangers; and they often are. However, they are among the easiest people to convince being an ally to the contestant, so long as they are paid on the spot or promised benefits that convinces them.
The contestant is considered to be the employer of the maid they have as an ally. The GMs are still able to promote the maid to head maid if they see fit to do so.

Being humans, maids are of course intelligent and capable of conversation on various subjects, and have no particular preference in what to talk about. Evidently, the unemployed ones are much easier to convince of joining than the already employed ones, though they will remind that they need some form of payment to be the contestant's servant.

As allies, maids are not particularly competent fighters; some might be trained in the use of firearms, others might not, it all depends in the maid's past experiences and personality. Regardless, they will use them if needed or asked, and will unhesitatingly protect with their lives the contestant, especially if they have been asked to act as bodyguards.

Maids are versatile; they will gladly obey the contestant's orders, which they will regard as their superior. They will do mostly anything ordered, pick up any weapon handed and change clothing if asked to, even if it means they are not recognized anymore as a maid; "only the bond with the employer counts, so long as the employer is satisfied" is a saying associated to the job mindset of maids and butlers; if they have to dress up and act like a Maze Soldier for example, they will gladly do so.

Maids are extremely loyal to the contestant; since the latter is their employer when one becomes his/her ally, they regard it as their primary duty to protect their employer; thus they will never defect to, or betray the contestant.

As stated previously, maids are a very common sight. Maids can be found at random in the rooms, cleaning the floor or whatever else needs cleaning in bedrooms, kitchens, mess halls, pantries, toilets, and are occasionally found showering in the shower rooms.

Hirers may also sell maids for 1000 P$, with their signature broom, making them one of the cheapest human allies for sale, on par with butlers.

Famous maids

  • Sasha, Ally of contestant Kiyo who willingfully decided to be her ally without any agreed contract or pay; only insurance of mutual protection

Disguise

A contestant can disguise as a maid if the following conditions are met:

  • The contestant is female or futanari (Males and otokos will be instantly busted)
  • Wearing the Maid suit; any other clothes are accepted, but this one is necessary

Effects of the disguise:

  • Fellow maids, head maids, as well as butlers and chief butlers become peaceful towards the contestant.
  • All members of the Maze Personnel become neutral to the contestant (+ applicable perverted variants)
  • All other creatures are unaffected.
