.30 Carbine (also known as 7.62x33mm, sometimes informally referred to as .30 Carb) is a cartridge developed just prior to World War II by Winchester, originally intended as a "light rifle" cartridge, as evidenced by the primary weapon it was designed for, the M1 Carbine. Although it is considered to be a pistol caliber (P) in the Mazes, due to its historical role as a light rifle cartridge, certain weapons chambered in .30 Carbine are considered to be rifles, and not pistol carbines or submachine guns.
