The Hunger rate is one of the vital statistics tracked on every contestant. The primary items that affect Hunger are food, although certain other kinds of items may affect the statistic as well.

- Hunger increases at a rate of 1% per turn, including during fights.
- A contestant should try to stay as close as possible from the 0% rate, to avoid any food-related problems later on.
- It is recommended for the contestant to keep at least a few food items in his/her backpack to avoid starvation, but as food is primarily found at random inside the rooms of Mazeworld, and the delicatessen shops are not among the scripted events, it might become a serious problem.
Effects
Hunger does not start affecting the contestant with a secondary effect until either Starvation or Oversatiation.
- Starvation causes the contestant to have reduced strength.
- Oversatiation causes the contestant to have increased Pain sensibility.
