From Mazeworld
6.5x50mm SR Arisaka (also known as 6.5mm Arisaka, 6.5mm Japanese, informally 6.5 Ari) is a rifle cartridge developed at the end of the 19th century and produced from 1897 to 1945 as the service rifle of the Imperial Japanese Army. It was designed to fit in the then-new Type 30 Arisaka Rifle, the first of a series of rifles designed by Colonel Nariakira Arisaka (有坂 成章 - Arisaka Nariakira). Perhaps the most commonly encountered Arisaka rifle is the Type 38, which is the most commonly produced variant of the rifle - over 3.4 million rifles produced total.
