'''.300 Winchester Magnum''' (also known simply as '''.300 Win Mag''', '''.300 WM''', or more rarely '''7.62x67mm''') is a rifle cartridge designed in 1963 by Winchester. It is designed to be a magnum rifle cartridge that can fit in rifles with a standard-length action, such as rifles originally chambered for [[7.62x51mm NATO]]. This cartridge is extremely versatile ; it is suitable for hunting, long range target shooting, military and law enforcement snipers, serving as a more powerful alternative to traditional 7.62 NATO rifles without the cost and expense of a larger platform, such as [[.338 Lapua Magnum]].
