'''.50 BMG''' (also known as '''.50 Browning Machine Gun''' or more rarely '''12.7x99mm NATO''') is a rifle cartridge originally designed in the late 1910s as a heavy machine gun round. It entered US military service in 1921 as the cartridge used by M2 Browning heavy machine gun, which is still in service today. Much later, during the 1980s, the cartridge was adapted for use in upscaled precision rifles dubbed ''anti-matériel rifles'', with the first of them being the '''Barrett M82'''. The M82 was eventually also adopted by the US military as the M107, and several match-grade loads were developed, to emphasize on the accuracy that is typically demanded out of military precision rifles. Dimensionally, .50 BMG is based on a greatly upscaled version of [[.30-06 Springfield]].

.50 BMG (also known as .50 Browning Machine Gun or more rarely 12.7x99mm NATO) is a rifle cartridge originally designed in the late 1910s as a heavy machine gun round. It entered US military service in 1921 as the cartridge used by M2 Browning heavy machine gun, which is still in service today. Much later, during the 1980s, the cartridge was adapted for use in upscaled precision rifles dubbed anti-matériel rifles, with the first of them being the Barrett M82. The M82 was eventually also adopted by the US military as the M107, and several match-grade loads were developed, to emphasize on the accuracy that is typically demanded out of military precision rifles. Dimensionally, .50 BMG is based on a greatly upscaled version of .30-06 Springfield.

In the Mazes, due to their extreme power, as well as the resulting cost of both firearms and ammunition, weapons chambered in .50 BMG are typically reserved for threats of exceptional nature.
