Load-bearing equipment (often shortened as LBE) is arguably the most important type of item that is given to the contestant in the beginning of his/her adventure in Mazeworld. LBE gear is what allows the contestant to have an inventory and carry items.

It may be worn by creatures who don't wear clothing and armor, on the conditions that if they can pick up and use firearms, they can wear LBE. Please check individual encounter articles to know if a certain species can do so.

There are different kinds of LBE in the game:

  • The standard backpack, a bog standard backpack
  • The handbag, a small sack with lighter straps and limited capacity
  • The advanced backpack, an upgrade of the standard one containing more space
  • The combat backpack, a large military-grade rucksack
  • The 72 Pattern LBE, a vest composed of simple, specialized pouches with no "free" space
  • The IIFS LBE, a vest with several specialized pouches with little space for other objects
  • The RM22SF LBE, a vest with pouches of all sizes with some space for other objects
  • The PLCE LBE/Pack combo, a vest and pack offering a standard backpack-sized bag and specialized pouches
  • The MOLLE LBE/Pack combo, a military-grade vest and pack duo offering an advanced backpack-sized bag and specialized pouches
  • The Il Duce webbing, a specialized vest made to carry several extra handguns plus ammo.
  • The RPG Carrier vest, a specialized vest made to carry rocket launcher or RPG ammunition easily.
  • The Medic LBE/Pack, a vest and pack made to carry medical supplies easily.
  • The Eagle Recon backpack, a high-capacity backpack made for alternate weapon configurations.
  • The TIMS Double Pack, a double backpack system with lots of special space for various item types.

Weight

The most important capability of a backpack, other than the fact it enables the contestant's inventory, is that it has a limited weight capacity. Weight is expressed in "units", and every kind of backpack has a different maximum capacity. It is impossible to go over this capacity period; if the backpack becomes full, it cannot carry any more. Most items have a weight of 1, but there are items with different weights, such as pieces of clothing, armor, or weapons as among the heaviest, while other items such as ammunition or money, weighing as little as 0.01 unit per item. Rarely, there exists a few weightless items whose size and weight are insignificant to the backpack.

Every backpack is equipped with a money pouch, a special container which is made to carry money. It can carry up to 2000 P$ before being full, providing the contestant with a safe area to store money in without being concerned about weight.

Most articles of the wiki speaking about a specific item that has a weight will list it.

Exceeding the maximum capacity is not recommended, as it will overload the backpack. It gives the reduced strength secondary effect indefinitely, until the total weight of carried objects again goes under or equals the maximum limit.

Standard backpack

A standard, frameless backpack made mostly of cloth. The standard backpack has a maximum capacity of 50 units, which is good for starting contestants but may, over time, be a bit too limited for the needs of middle or end of game. Like the others, it can be found in a clothes shop or a pawn shop. This backpack's straps will rip at 60 units.

Handbag

The handbag is an optional "backpack" that is sometimes found in the mazes, at a clothes shop or a pawn shop. It is not really a "back" pack per se, but counts as such. In Mazeworld, their maximum capacity of 20 units prevent them from carrying too much items. A word of advice though, it is very easy to overload; the straps will rip off starting at 24 units.

Advanced backpack

The advanced backpack is an upgraded version of the standard backpack. It is larger, has an internal frame, and more carrying space. A major improvement over its standard cousin, it is a must have for every contestant. Its maximum capacity of 90 units allows for a reliable amount of space, which may be used for spare weapons for players who have multiple weapon configurations. It is able to sustain overloading better than its smaller variants, as straps will rip at 102 units carried.

Combat backpack

The best backpack of the game, it is a military-grade backpack with an external frame. Even larger than the advanced backpack, its very generous maximum capacity of 140 units allows for multiple spare weapons, lots of space for ammunition, and is very suited to carrying crafting materials in bulk. Its overload resistance is very high, as the straps will remain in place until 168 units carried.

72 Pattern load-bearing equipment

The 72 Pattern LBE is a simple webbing system with pouches designed to carry only the necessary - ammunition for the wearer's weapon(s), and a pouch capable of carrying only a small selection of objects - only the strict necessary for one day or two, not designed for endurance or long-distance.

  • It can carry up to 15 units of weight.
  • An ammo pouch (6 units)

It is not recommended to overload the vest with equipment, as it will rip at 18 units carried excluding the ammo pouch.

IIFS load-bearing equipment

The Individual Integrated Fighting System LBE or IIFS is a lightweight vest offering minimum carrying capacity on top of specialized carrying capability.

  • It can carry up to 25 units of weight.
  • An ammo pouch (6 units)

It is not recommended to overload the vest with equipment, as it will rip at 30 units carried excluding the ammo pouch.

RM22SF load-bearing equipment

The RM22SF LBE is a tactical vest intended for special forces units. It offers light carrying capacity on top of specialized carrying capability.

  • It can carry up to 35 units of weight.
  • An ammo pouch (10 units)

It is not recommended to overload the vest with equipment, as it will rip at 42 units excluding the ammo pouches.

PLCE load-bearing equipment

The Personal Load-Carrying Equipment LBE/Pack combo is a tactical vest/backpack combination intended for military personnel. It offers moderate carrying capacity on top of specialized carrying capability.

  • It can carry up to 50 units of weight.
  • An ammo pouch (10 units)
  • A consumables pouch (6 units)

The PLCE will rip at 60 units excluding the contents of both pouches. It is an interesting replacement for a standard backpack and easily rivals in usefulness an advanced backpack.

MOLLE load-bearing equipment

The MOdular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment or MOLLE (pronounced "Molly") is a LBE/Pack combo offering a large tactival vest/rucksack combination intended for military personnel on long journeys. It offers large carrying capacity on top of specialized carrying capability.

  • It can carry up to 85 units of weight.
  • An ammo pouch (10 units)
  • A consumables pouch (6 units)
  • A spare weapon rig (5 units, one weapon, no Class limitation)

The MOLLE will rip at 102 units excluding the contents of all three pouches. Although it doesn't possess the raw, large carrying capability of a combat backpack, the MOLLE LBE/Pack combo offers plenty of specialized carrying equipment for free, which is tailored to the needs of a seasoned and prepared combatant.

Il Duce webbing

The Il Duce webbing is a specialized webbing that is worn over the upper body. It has several holsters and pouches made to safely carry a lot of extra handguns plus ammunition for them. A must for Class 3 weapon collectors.

  • It can carry up to 25 units of weight.
  • 4 spare weapon holsters (Four weapons; 1 per holster, no weight limitation, only Class 3 weapons.)
  • An ammo pouch (6 units)

It will rip at 30 units excluding the contents of both pouches.

RPG Carrier vest

Intended to help rocket launcher and RPG users, this carrier vest is made specifically to carry spare rockets more easily. It does, however, sacrifice pure backpack space to make up for it.

  • It can carry up to 25 units of weight.
  • A rocket ammo pouch (12 units, but can only be filled with the following: 83.5mm rocket, 85mm RPG, 105mm RPG.)

It will rip at 30 units excluding the pouch's contents.

Medic LBE/Pack

A LBE/backpack combo with decent carrying capacity plus pouches and straps for medical supplies. A great backpack for users concerned about bringing sufficient medical aids in combat.

  • It can carry up to 60 units of weight.
  • A first aid pouch (4 units, FAKs and FSKs only)
  • A meds pouch (8 units, meds only)

It will rip at 72 units, excluding both pouches' contents.

Gunner LBE/Pack

A LBE/backpack combo with decent carrying capacity, plus pouches oriented especially towards carrying ammunition for belt-fed weaponry. The perfect backpack for machine gun users who are concerned about the weight of their ammunition.

  • It can carry up to 60 units of weight.
  • A belt carrier (Ammunition belts only, any 2)

It will rip at 72 units, excluding the contents of the belt carrier.

Grenadier LBE/Pack

A LBE/pack combo with decent carrying capacity, plus a series of loops and rings tailored for carrying grenades - whether of the hand grenade type, or the grenade launcher type. A must-have for any explosives enthusiast.

It will rip at 72 units, excluding the contents of the grenade loops.

Eagle Recon backpack

An excellent backpack for users who have an alternate weapon strategy and want to carry an extra Class 1 or Class 2 weapon without worrying about it taking too much space. It possesses good carrying capacity, an ammunition pouch, and a sling specifically made to attach any Class 1 or Class 2 weapon that isn't unsparable.

  • It can carry up to 65 units of weight.
  • A spare weapon rig (One weapon, no weight limitation, only Class 1 or Class 2 weapons)
  • An ammo pouch (8 units)

It will rip at 76 units, excluding the ammo pouch's contents.

TIMS double backpack

A double backpack system made to carry all sorts of items. A hoarder's dream backpack, rivaling with the good old Combat Backpack in carrying capacity.

  • It can carry up to 90 units of weight.
  • An ammo pouch (8 units)
  • A consumables pouch (4 units)
  • A spare weapon rig (9 units)

It will rip at 108 units, excluding all three pouches' contents.
