.45 ACP (no ontology)
From Mazeworld
.45 ACP (also referred to as .45 Auto, more rarely 11.43x23mm) is a pistol cartridge designed by John Moses Browning in 1904. As one of the most iconic pistol cartridges in the world, often compared to 9x19mm Parabellum, a large amount of firearms have been chambered for this cartridge. .45 ACP was originally designed for a prototype semi-automatic pistol also designed by John Browning and produced by Colt, which was later adopted by the United States Army as the M1911 in, as the name indicates, the year 1911.
The cartridge was originally designed to replicate .45 Colt performance in a semi-automatic pistol. It has since seen use in over a century of military service, as well as adoption by law enforcement agencies and civilian shooters looking for a potent self-defense cartridge. Even to this day, .45 ACP is still a popular cartridge, and a variety of modern firearms are produced in this caliber.
The cartridge itself was declined in a number of variants, in order to exploit its generous case capacity which original factory loads did not fully use. These variants include .45 ACP +P (loaded to just under 10% higher pressure), .45 Super (which is termed in the Mazes as a +P+ load, loaded to 4/3 the pressure of the original cartridge), and what would be considered the closest equivalent to a "Magnum" version of .45 ACP: .460 Rowland, which is actually a different, slightly longer case made to accomodate even more powder, and thus, develop even more power.
