Several kinds of characters are populating Mazeworld, you may want to get to know them all.

Main characters

• The contestant, the heroes or anti-heroes of their own adventure in the mazes
• The Game Masters, the mysterious, sarcastic and sadistic rulers of the realm and administrators of the game
• Genbu, Suzaku, Seiryuu and Byakko, the Cardinal Gods, bearers of the Cardinal Amulets sought for by the contestants

The Maze Personnel defines all people in the Mazes with a specific occupation, at the exception of the Maze Citizens, which have no de jure main occupation but are nevertheless important elements of life in the Mazes. Most members of the Personnel are humans, but rare cases include youkai. It must be noted that many of them have a randomized physical appearance.

All people in the Personnel are protected by the law, except the youkai, the military (All Soldiers and variants), the prisoners, the sex workers and the outlaws.

• The Yatela family, leaders of a criminal group organized like an Italian mafia family, composed of five brothers.
  • Michael Yatela, the oldest of the five and the leader of the family, mentioned several times, and ultimately seen in Mission C9
  • Jane Yatela, Michael's wife, seen in Mission C5
  • His lieutenants and brothers, Tony, Soren, Nick and Johnny, all seen in Mission C2
• Wyatt Flanker, a charismatic Guard Chief on the tail of the Yatelas, seen and heard in several Co-op missions (Mission C2, Mission C5, Mission C7 and Mission C9.)
• Maximillian Spanner, a rich and influent man seeking hired guns in Mission C3
• Brett Wheeley, a nemesis of Spanner, seen in Mission C3
  • Wheeley's hired guns, Tyler, Marvin, Garrett and several unnamed grunts, all seen in the same mission.
• The AK Sisters, Akina and Kiwa, a duo of actresses, models, and AK-wielding activist tengu, seen in Mission C6 and Mission C9
